There are more than 100 events during the week for you to pick from, so making some good choices on which ones to do is important. Here are six events and one important resource that we feel like you just should not miss as a first-time Buckeye...
Convocation 2012
Monday, August 20th -- 10:30am at St. John Arena
Convocation is a kick-off to your academic career, where you'll hear from a panel of distinguished guests and learn Carmen Ohio, the OSU alma mater. At the end of Convocation, the OSU Marching Band leads the crowd on a traditional walk through the Stadium to head out for the next big event!
First-Year Student COLUMB US Welcome
Monday, August 20th -- 11:30am-3:30pm at Nationwide Arena
A new addition to Welcome Week, the First-Year Student COLUMBUS Welcome introduces the class of 2016 to many of the great sites, attractions, and opportunities our wonderful city has to offer through a high energy, multi-media production featuring key community leaders and alumni. Learn how to take advantage of the wealth of opportunities that exist just beyond the boundaries of campus in one of the country’s premier cities, Columbus.
Student Involvement Fair
Monday, August 20th -- 4:00pm-8:00pm on the Oval
Members of more than 700 OSU student organizations and campus departments, businesses, and community agencies will be around the Oval to share with you a little bit about what they do. This is your first and best opportunity to chat with them and start determining what you're going to get involved with outside of your classes.
Community Commitment
Tuesday, August 21st -- 8:30am at the Ohio Union
Come be part of one of the largest one-day service events on any college campus! Community Commitment provides an opportunity for Ohio State students to make connections with the community surrounding Ohio State. Make a difference, meet new friends, and make a get involved in a super service opportunity at Community Commitment 2012.
Buck-i-Frenzy
Tuesday, August 21st -- 11:00am-4:00pm at the RPAC
Enjoy five hours of food, friends, and free stuff in and around the RPAC as the Office of Student Life presents Buck-i-Frenzy! The Frenzy includes dozens of restaurants and businesses showcasing the latest in food, fashion, technology, products, and services.
Buckeye Kick-Off
Saturday, August 25th -- 5:30pm at Ohio Stadium
Experience the year's most dynamic OSU spirit event at Buckeye Kick-Off! Enjoy free food and interactive games at the fan fest and tailgate on the south plaza outside the Ohio Stadium South Stands at 5:30. Be the first to experience the world debut of the "Ohio Dog," the hottest new food item at Ohio State! Gates to the Stadium open at 6:30, and the multimedia program, featuring TBDBITL, OSU celebrities, a Block O card stunt, and more begins at 7:30. Stay until the end to come onto the field and pose for a historic group photo! Make sure to wear red!
Campus Locator Services
Wednesday, August 22nd & Thursday, August 23rd -- All Day, All Over Campus
It's no secret that OSU's campus is a big one. It's pretty spread out, and there's absolutely no shame in not knowing exactly how to get to your destination right away. On the first two days of classes, you'll be able to take advantage of Campus Locator Services, hundreds of volunteers spread out all over campus with maps and good information on getting you where you need to be.
