The Welcome Week Mission Statement
As a way to welcome Ohio State's new and returning students to campus in Autumn Quarter, The Ohio Union, in collaboration with a team of representatives from various campus departments, student populations and organizations, and community interests, presents Welcome Week 2008 from Sunday, September 21 to Sunday, September 28.
The mission of the Welcome Week Steering Committee is to provide programming and information that will assist students as they make The Ohio State University their home and to foster a sense of obligation throughout the entire University Community to take part in a unified effort to welcome new and returning students.
Although this committee is not responsible for the planning of every activity during Welcome Week 2008, it does support the endeavors of other departments and organizations as they welcome students. As a committee, we have identified the following eight "pillars" of campus life at Ohio State as a way to guide the creation of programs and events. Welcome Week programming should represent a balance among:
- Academics
- Athletics
- Campus Resources
- Diversity
- Ohio State Traditions & Buckeye Pride
- Social Opportunity
- Student Involvement & Service
- Wellness & Recreation
